Mac Ruby Woo Lip Liner

Liner

MAC has launched the ultimate side-kick to our beloved red-lip heroine, the Ruby Woo, in form of a lip liner – Ruby Woo…Woohoo! Gone are the days of brainstorming which lip liner to match with this legend of a lipstick. The first time I saw it was in a Instagram post by Lisa Eldridge (this is the second time his week I have mentioned Lisa in a post of mine, man that woman rules my world!). So discernably I had to get it.

What's a good liner to go with MAC Ruby Woo lipstick? Before I ever tried MAC lipsticks,I usually worn Revlon in Really Red and a plain brown lip liner. I ONLY outline my upper lip and the outer. If you haven't experienced the dose of confidence a MAC lippie brings, here are the shades that have earned cult status. From Ruby Woo to Velvet Teddy. With a matching lip liner.

Obviously, it is an exact match to the lipstick, the same colour and texture, the very same matte, vivid blue-red. My only wish is, as with all MAC lip liner, please make them in auto pencil with a sharper in the end. I hate using sharpeners.
I got mine about a month ago I think…wait, let me check my Instagram…
……still checking – my net is slow yaar!
Whoa! 11 weeks ago! Bad beauty blogger, could have done this post then! Ugh.
Anyway, all that matters is that now you can improve perfection, I mean you can get even sexier red and more precise lips with this liner.
Although, I must add, this is an expensive little bugger, INR 1400 for a lip liner! Jeez! I almost did not buy it. Thought, instead I should probably get a new MAC lippie but….but…it is a Ruby Woo liner.
**Oh No! I was not posing at all you guys!**
Are you guys excited about the launch? Planning to buy it? Do let me know!

Mac Cherry Lip Liner

We all love MAC Ruby Woo, the retro matte blue-red that looks insanely good on SOOO many, but let’s face it, that thang can be super drying. You could add a balm, but you can alter the finish, so what else do you do?

Mix it with a super goth deep dark berry! A MAC artist once had a really awesome lip on one time when I was buying makeup and when I pinned her in a corner politely asked her what she was wearing she told me Ruby Woo with Nightmoth Lip Pencil lining around the edges and then blended in a bit. I totally stole her look.

Then I also noticed that makeup artist Jonathan Nathaniel did a similar look with Nightmoth lip liner, Charred lipstick, and Ruby Woo lipstick in the center of the lip on VH1’s Yandy Smith. After my two month red lip hiatus, I resurfaced my beloved shade by mixing it with MAC Prince Noir (applied like a liner) and then put Ruby Woo in the center. Using the lipstick as opposed to just the liner made it a more comfy wear because although Prince Noir is a matte as well, it’s not as drying on the lips as Ruby Woo.

Then fast forward like a day later and MAC used the same concept to create the gorgeous lip look at Kenneth Cole (pictured above)! Here’s what they used:

FACE
M·A·C PRO WHITE FACE & BODY just a touch mixed into foundation for a custom porcelain finish to skin, followed with an application over cheekbones to further highlight.
M·A·C PRO SCULPTING CREAMS blended over skin to softly contour the face and followed with a bit of transparent powder to set where necessary.

EYES
STUDIO FINISH SPF 15 CONCEALER applied with a clean mascara wand through the brows to lighten.
Lashes are curled and left bare.
M·A·C PRO GLOSS TEXTURE applied over bare eyelids and under the lashline for a subtle sheen to skin.
M·A·C PRO pLATINUM METAL PIGMENT applied along the upper and lower lashline to define and highlight the eye.

LIPS
NIGHTMOTH LIP PENCIL used to define lips and then blended with a lip brush to diffuse and perfect.
CYBER LIPSTICK blended through the corners and outer edge of lips.
RUBY WOO LIPSTICK applied through the center of the lip and blended outwards with a lip brush.
M·A·C PRO BLACK BLACK CHROMAGRAPHIC PENCIL used through the corners of the mouth to deepen.
CHERRY LIP PENCIL used to blend darker tones together, perfecting lips while creating dimension at the same time.

P.S. Here’s my version (Prince Noir with Ruby Woo)
