Apex Legends developer Respawn has a bit of a fight on its hands. Apex Legends has recently been beset by hackers and DDoS attacks and now the company is apparently looking at all options in order to fight them off.

Over the last few weeks, more and more Apex Legends players have been complaining about issues inside the game. The company has reportedly taken a number of actions to try and fix the problem only to find out the game has been the target of people actively looking to take it offline. Now the company says it's willing to pursue whatever it takes, which likely includes legal action if that's what it needs to do to put an end to the attacks.

Twitch streamer ShivFPS inadvertently brought a focus to the issue and what Respawn is going to about the problems in Apex Legends. Shiv took to Twitter to announce that he got locked out of the game. He added that he knew it was a hacker or hackers locking people out of their accounts. He finished his post by saying that Respawn needed to make sure the issue was fixed or he might move onto another game.

Not long after Shiv and other Apex Legends players complained about the hacking issue, Respawn director of communication Ryan Rigney took to Twitter himself to explain what the company was doing to fight back. Rigney said that he hoped to have an official announcement soon. He also made it clear he wanted the company to do more than simply tell people it 'hears them.'

Regarding some ongoing cheating issues. Hoping to have actions to announce as quickly as possible (and to avoid useless 'we hear you!' posts in the meantime...): https://t.co/AAxrFZHRTN

In another post, Rigney said Respawn is looking at 'all avenues.' While he didn't say specifically the company is looking at, he did offer a few examples. In those examples, he mentioned 'legal' was one thing the company was considering. While going down the legal avenue is kind of a nuclear option, the firm has already taken other steps that haven't worked. That included a ban wave Respawn admitted didn't work against the DDoS attackers.

It makes sense that Respawn is willing to pull out the big guns at this point. Next week, a new War Games event is launching in Apex Legends. The developers likely want to make sure that event goes off without a hitch. Continuing to have people locked out of their accounts, alongside other problems, is only going to mar the launch of the new event.
